This summer I traveled anywhere from 40 miles to 700 miles to attend motorcycle meets. So I was delighted to learn that the North American Vincent Rally was being held only 12 miles from my doorstep. Ascutney Mountain is a defining feature of our local scenry and the Ascutney Mountain Resort is a popular ski area on its north slope. The local twisty roads are a perfect match for the famous British V twin. The rally had several rides to local sites of interest such as the road up Ascutney and a lunch stop at the Harpoon Brewry and the Windsor Precision Museum. On Saturday they had an afternoon Concours lineup and judging which is what I attended. As I was heading over to Ascutney on my Morini 3 1/2 (a little V twin itself) I came across 4 Vincents at the St Gaudens National Historic Site just down the road from my house. Being visitors to the area they had heard about this out of the way historic site which was the home and workshop of the famous American scuptor, Augustus St Gaudens, and focal point for the famous Cornish Art Colony at the turn of 20th century. It is across the Connecticut River in Cornish NH and has beautiful grounds and of course a great view of Mount Ascuteny. Having never seen a Vincent on my road I had to take a few photos. Then I continued on to Ascutney Mountain Resort and found something like 80 Vincents parked in a row. As the afternoon wore on even more Vincents motored in. I tried to get a detailed set of photographs of every one and probably got a few duplicates. By the end of the afternoon I had over 1200 photos.
