Vintage Motorcycle Swap Meet and Races Gilford NH Jun 2003

Annual Vinatge Laconia Swap Meet and Races held on June 7 and 8 at the Gunstock Ski Area. The Swap meet was from 8am to 3pm on both Saturday and Sunday. Vendor space was $80 for both days or $40 for one day. General admission was $20 for a 2 day pass or $10 for Saturday and $20 for Sunday. On Sunday classic vintage races were held within the Gunstock Ski Area right in front of the Vendor area so you could attend the swap meet and races both. The Ski area has a large camping area and the Sunday races are run right through the camping area. This is a really nice event for watching vintage races up close on the 1 mile original Belknap track complete with hairpin turn. There was a good turnout of vendors that set up booths. On Saturday there was a trials competition right next to the vendor area as an added bonus. The trials competition takes place on a small course with logs and rocks and see-saw obstacles and is lots of fun to watch.

We arrived early Saturday morning and set up our vendor booth complete with solar panels. Unfortunately like many events this year it was overcast with rain threatening. That really keep the Saturday visitors away. There was a well attended vintage bike judging but by afternoon it began to rain. Sunday began overcast but it did not rain so the races went on without a problem. I am sure the overcast sky keep some race spectators away but even so there was a decent turn out. In the afternoon just before things ended the sun almost came out and it was quite nice. This is a great event for vintage enthusists in a beautiful setting.
