Vintage Focus copyright Version 1.0 Nov 2007

Vintage Focus traveled to 18 motorcycle meets and exhibits during 2007. When possible we traveled by motorcycle but sometimes by plane and auto. Our objective is to take as many photos as possible of the motorcycles we encounter. Often this is a full 16 photo profile of the motorcycle showing great detail. The situations are often challenging with tight spaces, low light and movement but we do the best we can and even enjoy the extra flavor these real life situations add to the photographs. We ended the year with 33,000 photos added to our collection. We attended some great meets and saw many very special motorcycles to photograph. The vast majority of the photos are of good quality but we move at a very rapid rate when photographing and a few are a little blurry or too light or too dark but we include as many as we can on our CDs and DVDs for completeness. A customer might just want to see a particular view even if the photo is slightly off. Not only do we create CDs and DVDs of individual meets and exhibits but at the end of the year we sort through all our photographs and select photos to create special CDs and DVDs based on a make or model or country of origin or style or whatever criteria we think might be of interest to motorcyclists.

Vincent is a highly respected British Marque that built motorcycles between 1929 and 1956. Started when Phil Vincent took over the production of HRD motorcycles which became the HRD Vincents. The emphasis was on unique engineering and quality of workmanship. By the mid 1930s Vincent had developed their own engines. These were basically hand built motorcycles so were expensive to buy and never made in huge numbers. The models eventually settled down to 500cc singles and 1000cc V twins of various specifications and factory options. Even though somewhat rare to see the model names are well known to vintage motorcyclists: Rapide, Black Shadow, Black Lightning, Knight, Meteor, Comet. During the early 1950s they were the fastest production motorcycles. After production ended there were several Vincent inspired hybrids such as the Egli-Vincent and Norvin merging the old with the new. These days Vincents are among the most collectable motorcycles out there. But even though they are extremely valuable a significant number of Vincnt owners are dedicated riders and put serious miles on their bikes each year.

The reason I was able to take so many Vincent photographs this year was because I was fortunate enough to be able to attend two events that featured many Vincents. The first was The Legend of the Motorcycle Show at Half Moon Bay California in May where Vincent was the featured Marque. The second was the Vincent Owners Club North American Rally in Ascutney Vermont, a mere 12 miles from my door. Between these 2 events there were over 100 Vincents to photogaph. There were Vincents at many of the other events I attended also. This collection of photographs of North American (and Mexican) Vincents is unique in detail and scope from anything else available. If you have an interest in Vincents you will find a wealth of detail here. If you own a Vincent and were at any of these events your Vincent is probably featured on the CD and DVD.

The CD is like a big folder of files. You put the CD in your computer and bring up the CD as a folder and click the first photo to view it and then your viewer should allow you to move forward and back and display them as a slide show. You will be able to see detail and zoom in. If you want detail get the CD. Most cycles have 16 views. If the owner has an indentification label then a photo of that is included otherwise the motorcycles are not identified. Sometimes there are fewer views or just a single photo of bike and rider going by. The CD has 1700 photos on it as 1280x960 jpeg files. The photos on the CD are grouped by the events the photos were taken at. And the events are ordered chronologically by the date they occured (earliest to latest). As you step to a new event there are a few slides with a short description about the event. The photo file names start with the year (e = 2007) and event (a through r). A slide is included that list all events and their tag letter and date. So a photo starting with eb is a 2007 Half Moon Bay photo. CD 07_19

The DVD presents the photos as a slideshow movie with background music and transition effects between the photos. Because the resolution of a DVD movie is much lower than a 1280x960 jpg photo you will not see the detail as well as on the CD. The resolution is the same as a normal movie. But if you just want to set back and enjoy 90 minutes of Vincent motorcycles on your TV then you want the DVD. The DVD has around 1500 photos which is slightly less than the CD because DVD space limitations but it is organized the same as the DVD. You can play it in your DVD player and on computers that can play DVDs. I can provide the DVD in NTSC (US and Canada) or PAL (most other places) formats as needed. DVD 07_19
